Overview

The Orientation and Education Manager plays a crucial role in developing and implementing orientation and educational programs and initiatives to enhance the knowledge and skills of Central Health clinical team members. The role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and evaluating educational activities to ensure that nursing and allied health professionals are equipped with the latest industry practices and standards. The Orientation and Education Manager collaborates with various stakeholders within Central Health, including nursing leaders, and clinical educators, to achieve organizational goals and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Develop and implement educational programs: Design, develop, and implement educational programs and initiatives for nursing and clinical staff, in collaboration with the nursing and clinical leadership teams. These programs may include orientation programs for new hires, continuing education courses, competency assessments, and professional development workshops.

Curriculum Development: Develop and update nursing and allied health education curricula, incorporating evidence-based practices and regulatory requirements. Ensure alignment with organizational goals, standards, and policies.

Educational resources and materials: Develop and maintain educational resources, such as training manuals, online modules, and reference materials, to support nursing education programs. Collaborate with subject matter experts and educational technology specialists to incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies.

Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum, making necessary revisions and improvements to ensure high-quality education and training. Continuously improve educational content and delivery methods based on evaluation results and best practices.

Program Management: Coordinate and manage nursing education programs, including workshops, seminars, in-service training, and orientation programs for new nursing and clinical staff. Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify training needs and design appropriate educational activities.

Training Delivery: Facilitate educational sessions, both in-person and online, to deliver educational content. Utilize various instructional methods, such as lectures, case studies, simulations, and hands-on demonstrations, to engage learners effectively.

Staff Development: Assess the learning needs of nursing and clinical staff. Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance the knowledge and skills of nursing and allied health professionals. Identify opportunities for further education, certifications, and specialized training.

Mentorship and preceptorship: Establish and oversee mentorship and preceptorship programs for nursing and clinical staff, providing guidance and support to new nurses, allied health professionals and those transitioning into new roles. Foster a culture of mentorship and continuous learning within the organization.

Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective working relationships with nursing leaders, educators, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of educational initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate interdisciplinary training programs.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of local, state, and national regulations and accreditation standards related to clinical education. Ensure compliance with these requirements and integrate them into educational programs and activities.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of educational activities, attendance, evaluations, and outcomes. Prepare reports and presentations on the effectiveness and impact of nursing and clinical education programs for management and regulatory bodies.

Resource Management: Manage the budget, equipment, and educational resources necessary for nursing and allied health education programs. Collaborate with vendors and educational institutions to leverage external resources when needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strong knowledge of educational principles, adult learning theories, and instructional design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology, learning management systems, and multimedia tools.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements related to health care delivery nursing.
  • Commitment to professional growth and staying updated on nursing education trends and best practices.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree

Nursing or related field.

Required

 

Master's Degree

Nursing or related field.

Preferred

 


Work Experience:

Three (3) years of experience in nursing education, staff development, or leadership roles.

Required

 

Seven (7) years of extensive clinical experience in nursing or related field.

RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
