Overview

Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Central Health Chief of Staff, the Development Director is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and managing development opportunities that advance the organization’s mission and growth goals. This position will serve as a key strategic partner, collaborating with Government Affairs, Communications, Strategy, and other identified departments to ensure that development efforts align with strategic and operational priorities, community needs and partnerships, and contribute to long-term organizational growth. This role focuses on cultivating relationships with donors, corporate partners, and stakeholders to secure funding and drive strategic initiatives. The Development Director will lead fundraising efforts, oversee donor engagement, and manage development programs that create long-term impact.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution
    • Collaborate with the CEO and key stakeholders to design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and grant opportunities.
    • Lead initiatives that align fundraising goals with broader organizational strategies, positioning the organization for sustainable growth.
    • Identify, research, and secure new funding opportunities, including identifying individual and corporate donors, aligning efforts with organizational priorities.
    • Develop and lead campaigns to achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals.

 

  • Donor Relations & Stewardship
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors serving as the primary point of contact for development initiatives.
    • Create and execute a donor stewardship plan that ensures recognition, appreciation, and long-term engagement.
    • Represent the organization in donor meetings, networking events, and presentations to strengthen visibility and relationships.

 

  • Development Program Management
    • Oversee the creation and implementation of development programs and initiatives that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
    • Build and refine operational processes for development programs, emphasizing scalability and efficiency to support organizational expansion.
    • Track and analyze fundraising data, creating reports and insights to inform strategies and improve outcomes.
    • Monitor and manage the development budget to ensure efficient use of resources.

 

  • Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement
    • Build and strengthen relationships with corporate sponsors, community leaders, and external organizations to support program expansion and funding opportunities.
    • Identify and execute collaborative opportunities to advance organizational objectives and raise the organization’s profile.
    • Serve as an ambassador of the organization in the community, promoting its mission and values.

 

  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to align development goals with the organization’s strategic priorities.
    • Provide mentorship to team members and actively contribute to cross-functional leadership discussions, fostering collaboration and alignment that supports the organization’s strategic growth and operational excellence.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members involved in development activities.
    • Foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization by promoting the importance of fundraising and external engagement.

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, healthcare management, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.

 

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in philanthropy, donor relations, or business development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing strategy, relationship management, or operational development.
    • Demonstrated experience leading initiatives with cross-functional teams and contributing to organizational growth in dynamic, mission-driven environments.
