Overview

Central Health is seeking a skilled pulmonologist to join our expanding clinical team, committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to underserved communities across Travis County.

 

In this position you will collaborate with patients, their families, and our multidisciplinary staff to offer specialized consultation and comprehensive care for patients with respiratory conditions, as well as sleep disorders. Working in a multi-specialty environment, you will coordinate closely with other specialties to ensure holistic care. This is a full-time outpatient role, with direct clinical sessions divided between in-person visits, video consultations, econsults, and e-reviews. You may supervise advanced practice providers and serve as an attending physician for learners at various levels.

 

This position will work closely with the Associate Director of Medical Specialty Care and will actively partner with the pulmonology team in developing programs for managing, treating, and preventing respiratory diseases. You will also help design clinical workflows to improve access to care, support evidence-based practices, and enhance efficiency. Ten percent of clinical time will be dedicated to administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnostics, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population. Prescribes medications, treatment regimens, and other interventions based on the patient’s medical condition.
Refers patients to specialists and additional care services as necessary to ensure comprehensive treatment.
Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) to document patient interactions, treatment plans, and clinical notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Educates patients and their families on procedures, home care instructions, and follow-up care requirements.
Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues through various modalities.
Demonstrates professional management skills, including planning, organizing, and scheduling work efficiently and productively.
Essential Functions
Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. May manage the daily operations of specific medical programs or research initiatives.
Directs and supervises advanced practice providers as required. May train and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
Ensures adherence to departmental policies, safety protocols, quality improvement goals, and infection control standards.
Participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
Contributes to the design and implementation of clinical workflows aimed at improving care access, supporting evidence-based practices, and enhancing efficiency.
Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to maintain alignment with organizational objectives and foster a team-oriented environment.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Completion of a Residency in Internal Medicine

Completion of an Accredited Fellowship in Pulmonology

 

Unrestricted licensed to practice Cardiology (Medicine) in the State of Texas Required
Board Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Pulmonology
DEA - Narcotics License Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number for the purpose of writing prescriptions Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Required
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) from
the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Required
