Central Health is seeking a skilled endocrinologist to join our expanding clinical team, committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to underserved communities across Travis County. In this position, you will collaborate with patients, their families, and our multidisciplinary staff to offer specialized consultation and comprehensive care for patients with endocrinologic conditions. Working in a multispecialty environment, you will coordinate closely with other specialties to ensure holistic care. This is a full-time outpatient role, with direct clinical sessions divided between in-person visits, video consultations, e-consults, and e-reviews. You may supervise advanced practice providers and serve as an attending physician for learners at various levels. This position will work closely with the Associate Director of Medical Specialty Care and take an active leadership role in developing programs for managing, treating, and preventing endocrine diseases. You will also help design clinical workflows to improve access to care, support evidence-based practices, and enhance efficiency. Ten percent of clinical time will be dedicated to administrative tasks. Central Health's mandate is to serve as the safety net for individuals in the county who need healthcare services. Essential Functions
Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnostics, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
Prescribes medications, treatment regimens, and other interventions based on the patient’s medical condition.
Refers patients to specialists and additional care services as necessary to ensure comprehensive treatment.
Utilizes electronic health records (EHR) to document patient interactions, treatment plans, and clinical notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Educates patients and their families on procedures, home care instructions, and follow-up care requirements.
Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues through various modalities.
Demonstrates professional management skills, including planning, organizing, and scheduling work efficiently and productively.
Essential Functions
May manage the daily operations of specific medical programs or research initiatives.
Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
Directs and supervises advanced practice providers as required.
May train and supervise medical students and residents engaged in specialty activities and procedures, as appropriate.
Ensures adherence to departmental policies, safety protocols, quality improvement goals, and infection control standards.
Participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
Contributes to the design and implementation of clinical workflows aimed at improving care access, supporting evidence-based practices, and enhancing efficiency.
Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to maintain alignment with organizational objectives and foster a team-oriented environment.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution. Accredited Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism with Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of clinical experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years of experience with DM patients including management of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Performance and interpretation of thyroid ultrasound (US) and FNA of thyroid nodules under US guidance.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
1. Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the state of Texas
2. Board Certification or passage of Board Certification examination from applicable credentialing body within two years of employment.
3. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration for the purpose of writing prescriptions.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR) Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Will be required to maintain a current CPR certification throughout employment.
