Overview

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Associate Director of Nursing - Nursing Operations works in conjunction with the Nurse Managers to administer and facilitate services at Central Health (CH). This position serves as an advisor to the Director of Nursing on all matters pertaining to nursing. The Associate Director Nursing (ADON) will provide primary oversight of clinic nursing operations, data and initiatives, implementation of policies and procedures. The ADON will work collaboratively with Director(s) of Operations and/or Medical Directors in performance improvement, quality assurance, utilization review, clinic and service line expansions. Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

 

  • Assists with overseeing the standards and practices for the organization’s nursing and medical assistant services at the Central Health clinic settings.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Sr. Associate Director of Nursing of Clinical Support Services on the development and implementation of patient centered care programs, policies and procedures to meet requirements for all regulatory bodies.
  • Supervises Clinic Nurse Managers providing leadership and oversight for daily clinical operations.
  • Implements and provides oversight of clinical care delivered by nursing, medical assistants, and ancillary care team.
  • Develops and/or monitors key performance indicators/metrics and leads improvement efforts & coordinating interventions that lead to improvement of the quality of patient care and team wellbeing.
  • In collaboration with the Sr. ADON - Clinical Support Services, oversees health center equipment needs, equipped examination rooms, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, education and dissemination of policy and protocols to ensure uniform delivery of services, and emergency events.
  • Assists with implementing and maintaining an effective and ongoing surveillance program to measure, monitor and assess, and improve the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, treatment, and services delivered to patients.
  • Reviews and updates nursing policies and procedures regularly to assure consistency with the law and practice standards.
  • Supervises assigned staff, including but not limited to, establishing work assignments and priorities, weekly review and adjustment of timecard, weekly review of time off requests, input for performance evaluations, monitoring orientation of new hires, and coaching and counseling staff in conjunction with Director of Nursing and HR.
  • Monitors the compliance with standards of care for on-site treatments and procedures, administration of medications, as well as timely and quality clinical workflows.
  • Advise on and responsible for implementation of gold-standard clinical workflows in pursuance of high performance and optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborates with Operations partners to ensure the clinical services team supports the overall clinic operational and fiscal activities to include staffing levels, budgets, financial and quality metrics.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Talent Development, ensures oversight and management of team member orientation, competency, and training records are completed in a timely manner and stored in the appropriate source of record.
  • Champions and foster a culture of safety.
  • Maintains own professional competence through participating in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
  • Develop and maintain strong and favorable internal and external relationships and partnerships including Enterprise partners, peer leaders, co-workers, providers, team members, and other support staff.
  • Ensures timely assessments, interventions, and measurement for corrective action strategies when needed.
  • Solves patient issues to ensure expected results. Assures quality of care philosophies and standards of care.
  • Maximizes quality outcomes for patients’ services through the most appropriate utilization of systems.
  • Serves on Central Health committees as assigned.
  • Adheres to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.
  • Establishes a compassionate and respectful environment which values teamwork, integrity and dependability.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement projects in order to better serve the patient, family and healthcare system to improve the quality of service provided.
  • Coordinates and attends staff meetings and education offerings both in person and via teleconference/online as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current requirements of pertinent regulatory bodies.
  • High degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of nursing and documentation requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

 

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of Clinical experience in an ambulatory clinic setting 
  • 5 years of progressive management/leadership experience in a healthcare environment
  • 5 years of Experience in program, policy, and standard operating procedure development 
  • 5 years of Experience in leading teams in performance improvement and workflow development

 

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas
  • Basic Life Support - obtained through approved American Heart Association
  • Ambulatory Nurse Certification (AMB-BC) (obtained within 1 year of hire date)
