Overview

At Central Health we provide person-centered, trauma-informed, mental health care and are seeking a compassionate and skilled psychiatrist to join our new and growing department. The psychiatrist will work on a multidisciplinary team and have support staff that includes a medical assistant, behavioral health/psychiatry nurse, clinical pharmacist, and community health worker. The psychiatrist will also work closely with Central Health counselors to provide optimal patient care. The psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and offer medication management for adults referred from medical clinics and community-based teams. This person will work with a diverse adult patient population, providing direct and appropriate mental health care to housed and unhoused individuals with psychiatric and cooccurring disorders (ex. substance abuse, medical illness, physical disabilities, and intellectual disabilities). As a member of the clinical team, psychiatrist will provide direct patient care in the community and clinic via face-to face and telehealth, which includes video visits. Opportunity for clinical leadership. This individual will be supported by the Director of Behavioral Health, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer. This position requires supervision of advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and medical students working in mental health in accordance with Texas Medical Board regulations and Central Health.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
Ensure optimal patient care that follows federal, state and local requirements. 
Diagnose and treat mental health disorders as appropriate based on patient’s medical history and results of mental health assessment and refer patients to specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment as needed. 
Understand psychopharmacology and prescribe appropriate medications and therapies for treatment and preventive care. 
Coordinates with medical specialty service lines, multidisciplinary team members, and community teams, to establish and maintain information, consultation and referral systems for the treatment of patients. 
Compile and record patient medical data including mental health history, treatment plans, and results of mental health assessment, etc. in electronic medical record.
Demonstrated expertise in relevant evidence based best practices in mental healthcare. 
Provide in person and/or telemedical clinical management services.
Collaborate with all members of the care team in providing patient‐centered, trauma informed, care.
Develop and maintain respectful and favorable internal relationships, partnerships with coworkers, including clinical managers, clinical support staff, providers and business office staff.
Essential Functions
Interact respectfully and collaboratively with patients and their families.
Complete all mandatory training and maintain appropriate credentials/licensure.
Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

Required: M.D or D.O degree with Board Certification in Psychiatry
