Central Health is looking for a skilled general surgeon to join our growing program, committed to serving the underserved community in Travis County. In close collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient), and staff across all disciplines and departments, this physician will be responsible for performing outpatient general surgery procedures including but not limited to screening/diagnostic colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, assisting with designing infrastructure and workflows to improve access to care, supporting evidence-based practice and improved efficiency, as well as coordinating surgical care delivery. This position will serve as both an attending to learners at various levels and may supervise advanced practice providers. This position is a full-time outpatient position. The primary focus of the role will be performing outpatient elective surgeries and procedures in an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). Ten percent of clinical time is allocated to administrative tasks. |

Essential Functions |
Performs upper/lower endoscopy, which may include pre and post-procedural visits, with plans to expand to lower complexity, outpatient general surgery procedures |
Within scope of credentialing, performs surgeries and surgical care in an Ambulatory Surgery Center Prescribes medications and therapies related to the surgical treatment required |
Instructs patients and their families regarding procedures performed, plan of care, and follow‐ up visit |
Directs professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients |
Responds to inquiries from staff and patients regarding surgical care and treatments |
Compiles patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and records in electronic medical record |
Actively communicates with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner in person and on the phone |
Works in tandem with the Central Health operations and clinical leaders to ensure a collaborative team-oriented environment |
Demonstrates professional management skills, including the ability to plan, organize and schedule work in an efficient and productive manner, focusing on key priorities and meeting deadlines |
