Overview

The Benefits Data Analyst supports the administration, reporting, and analysis of employee benefits programs through advanced data reporting, dashboard development, and actionable insights. This role is responsible for extracting and analyzing data from HRIS and benefits systems, ensuring data integrity across HRIS platforms and benefit carriers, developing and maintaining dashboards and reports, and supporting data-driven decision-making to ensure programs are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational goals.


This position operates as an individual contributor within the Benefits function and supports program administration through reporting, analysis, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Analyze benefits and HRIS data to identify trends and provide actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, automated reports, and data visualization tools (i.e. Power BI or similar tools)
  • Support cost and trend analysis across benefit programs, including medical, dental, and other benefit offerings
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of benefits data across systems and reporting tools
  • Maintain and validate data within HRIS and benefits administration systems
  • Support EDI file feeds and carrier data exchanges, including monitoring transmissions, identifying errors, and partnering with vendors/carriers to resolve issues
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies by partnering with internal teams and external vendors
  • Perform routine audits of HRIS and benefits data to ensure data consistency and accuracy
  • Support benefits program administration through reporting, data validation, and system/process optimization
  • Coordinate with vendors, brokers, and internal teams to support data needs, reporting requirements and system integrations
  • Assist in preparing data for renewals, open enrollment, and ongoing program evaluations
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports to support Benefits and leadership needs
  • Support Compensation team reporting and analytics on an as-needed basis, serving as a cross-functional backup resource for Total Rewards data needs
  • Support the analysis of utilization, enrollment, and cost trends using HRIS and benefits data
  • Maintain documentation of reporting processes, data definitions, and methodologies
  • Support audit requests by providing accurate and organized documentation
  • Assist in communicating benefits-related insights by preparing data, dashboards, and reporting summaries
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends 
  • Ability to develop and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Excel and Power BI 
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and integrity 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams and with vendors 
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits systems (e.g., UKG) preferred 
  • Basic understanding of employee benefits programs and terminology preferred

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (higher degree accepted) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field

Minimum Education:

  • 2 years in benefits, HR operations, data analysis, or a related field
