  • Overview

    The Biostatistician serves as a resource for population health analysis for the Community Care Collaborative. Under general direction, the Biostatistician is responsible for organizing, analyzing and reporting on data from large clinical, financial and enrollment data sets. The  Biostatistician will also assist in the design and development of predictive models, population health dashboards and other systems that support the development of a clinically integrated network of physicians, safety net providers, and hospitals working together to develop an integrated delivery system of care that is patient centered and data driven. 

    Responsibilities

    • Build predictive models to forecast trends in utilization, demographics, and population health.
    • Develop sampling methodology and design for population based surveys.
    • Perform quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and prepare results to share with internal and external customers. 
    • Aid in design and development of data warehouse/data mart applications, including collaborating with enterprise and external partners on the creation of large datasets. 
    • Interact with IT Team and Business Units to interpret dashboard requirement specifications and assist in the development and implementation of dashboards for the CCC. 
    • Undertake complex data integration activities. 
    • Utilize SQL or other advanced analytic tools to perform data extract and query functions. 
    • Identify and troubleshoot data anomalies and irregularities. 
    • Prepare written and oral reports that communicate necessary information to internal and external customers. 
    • Produce and streamline as needed ongoing monthly, quarterly and annual reports in support of CCC. 
    • Willingness to learn and work with Business Intelligence (BI) tools for extracting and compiling data. 
    • Become a data subject matter expert (SME) and understand various sources and applications of CCC data. 
    • Collect and document business requirements for reporting and analysis initiatives with customers. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Use of statistics to solve problems and perform moderately complex data analysis. 
    • Critical thinking/problem solving
    • Strong ability to communicate findings concisely and persuasively with business and community leaders verbally and in writing
    • Fluent in developing and troubleshooting programming code (e.g. SQL, SAS, STATA, R).
    • Fluent in understanding and writing SQL queries in various environments, preferably SSMS. 
    • Proficient with data visualization tools, Tableau preferred. 
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying deadlines. 
    • Compliance with data confidentiality and security procedures. 
    • Perform complex operations in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
    • Working collaboratively with internal and external partners and integrating input from multiple stakeholders
    • Thrive in a dynamic environment, be proactive and bring new approaches to problem solving

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: Master’s in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology or demography (with strong mathematical/ statistics background).


    PREFERRED EDUCATION: PhD in biostatistics or PhD in epidemiology with strong mathematical background.


    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year professional industry experience in healthcare biostatistical analytics or research.


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Health care delivery system experience
