  • Overview

    Under the guidance of the Chief Strategy & Planning Officer, the Strategy Manager develops and implements Central Health strategic planning efforts, coordinates the Enterprise Strategic planning group, ensures alignment of strategic plan with all internal and external reporting, and provides project management assistance for Central Health initiatives including but not limited to behavioral health and women’s health planning. This position oversees strategic plan reporting processes for Central Health and collaborates on Central Health Enterprise reporting to the Central Health board. This includes staffing and assisting in setting the agenda for and preparing materials for the Central Health Strategic Planning Committee. Under the direction of the Chief Strategy and Planning Officer, this position plans, develops, evaluates and implements complex projects, new programs and initiatives and represents Central Health in community planning around specific issues and strategic plan initiatives. This position also provides planning and project management for Central Health’s ongoing role as a convener of behavior health initiatives, women’s health initiatives, and other areas as needed. The Strategy Manager coordinates with Enterprise and CCC clinical partners on health issues related to Central Health key strategic plan initiatives. This position also works with other CCC and Central Health Departments, including finance, operations and communications to ensure that the strategic work plan aligns with overall organizational objectives.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties:

    • Assists CSPO in establishing and monitoring progress on Strategy Department goals
    • Under the guidance of the CSPO and in collaboration with the Office of the CEO, manages strategic plan preparation, monitoring, reporting and alignment of Enterprise strategic planning efforts
    • Manages the strategic plan reporting processes for Central Health
    • Advises CSPO on the structure and design of the strategic work plan, strategies and measures. 
    • Advises CSPO on and guides implementation of new strategic planning methods and practices
    • Advises Director of Strategic Communications on data needs related to strategic work plan strategies and milestone reporting.
    • Collaborates with Director of Strategic Communications to ensure alignment of strategic plans and all reporting including working with Senior Data Management Healthcare Analyst in the development of work plan measures 
    • Staffs and helps set the agenda and prepares materials for the Central Health Strategic Planning committee including attending meetings, taking notes and assisting in the preparation of responses to board requests
    • Coordinates with Enterprise regarding reporting to Central Health board on strategic plan initiatives
    • Works with Finance, Eligibility, Communications and Community Engagement Department on activities related to the strategic work plan to ensure alignment.
    • Attends conferences and trainings to stay up to date on new developments in organizational strategic planning and reports back to CSPO
    • Provides updates to the Central Health Board of Managers and other organizations as needed on strategic work plan
    • Under CSPO guidance and in collaboration with staff, establish project planning and management methods and tools to track progress on all work and achievement of goals 
    • Manages vendor contracting and work of vendors including collaborating with purchasing for RFPs
    • Provides project management for Central Health initiatives including but not limited to:
    • Behavioral health initiatives such as: convening community-wide behavioral health initiatives; serving as key Central Health liaison with behavioral health community planning workgroups and attending meetings on behalf of Central Health; planning agendas, arranging presentations and following up from meetings
    • Plans, develops, evaluates and implements complex projects, new programs and initiatives and represents Central Health in community planning around specific issues and strategic plan initiatives
    • Assists in the management of Central Health efforts such as those regarding ensuring access to the full continuum of women’s health services
    • Provides other project management as needed

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • under-served populations and related rules and regulations and can translate into simple language
    • Understands principles of strategic planning and measurement
    • Knowledge of issues facing the individuals with low-income in Travis CountyProject management experience and certification
    • Understands health care and public health landscape of Travis County
    • Ability to engage community partners and openly communicate effectively so that others will understand
    • Critical thinking/problem solving
    • Understands and can apply principles of project management
    • Facilitates consensus among divergent groups
    • Project management experience and certification

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree
    PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s degree in public health, business administration or related field or equivalent is strongly preferred
    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 Years health care planning, evaluation, administration and/or strategy development
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Project management experience and certification
