  • Overview

    The Quality Assurance Specialist III is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the testing and validation phase of a project or request. This role will work to create, maintain, and execute test cases, working in collaboration with other departments and customers to ensure developments are functioning as required. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, extensive experience in Quality Assurance processes, methodologies, and best practices, hands-on skills with test automation tools for functional and performance testing, as well as technical testing skills such as database querying and code comprehension. The candidate must be able to learn quickly, work in a fast paced team driven environment, and have the ability to communicate well with non-technical personnel. The Quality Assurance Specialist III will also perform other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    The Quality Assurance Specialist III must:

     

    • Collaborate with Development team and Systems Analysts to understand the product/features being developed, it’s use cases and the associated acceptance criteria
    • Lead, implement, and drive consistent global Quality Assurance metrics and processes
    • Design, create, and implement testing strategies for complex data applications including business intelligence and data analytics sources
    • Evaluate success of the current standard quality processes, best practices, and lead the implementation of changes where improvements must be made
    • Drive continual performance efficiencies by way of best practices leadership and best practices adoption 
    • Lead Functional and Technical Requirement reviews and verify these requirements are reflected in the test cases
    • Regression test new products as well as enhancements and bug fixes for existing products, acting as a “quality gate keeper” for the team
    • Provide QA tools expertize including defect management, test requirements and tasks, test case management, test execution planning, tracking and reporting
    • Lead, manage, track, and report on all release level QA tasks ensuring all due dates, timelines, milestones and tasks are completed including: attend scrum and sprint planning meetings, evaluate acceptance criteria, review test cases, demo new core functionality, create test cases, ensure testing scope meets requirements, manage Bug life cycle
    • Assist the Development team with replicating and debugging problems
    • Recommend and assist in the implementation of standardized tools for operational processes and liaise with vendors and internal customers to identify and implement value-added, industry standard best practices to achieve operational efficiency
    • Coach, and mentor Quality Assurance Specialists I and II to assure they continually build their skills while delivering QA on products that meet requirements and exceed expectations
    • Have the ability to work outside of standard business hours
    • Investigate analysis-reported data issues and provide root cause analysis
    • Assess the quality and consistency of data being delivered by providers
    • Provide data services to end users including automating monthly jobs to fulfill requests from end users and coordinate delivery of these services
    • Work with several cross-functional teams to research and resolve data issues
    • Make recommendations for additional data quality monitoring needed 
    • Demonstrate ability to assemble, analyze, and evaluate data and to be able to make appropriate and well-reasoned recommendations and decisions to the Business stakeholders and the Project Team

    • Hands on experience with the following technologies:
    • Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL 
    • ETL Tools: Pentaho preferred, Informatica or Talend experience acceptable
    • Tools: JIRA, Zephyr for JIRA (or other test case management tool), Confluence

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to utilize a personal computer and commonly-used software, to enter, retrieve, and communicate data.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION:
    Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Business Administration required

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION:
    Master of Science, Master of Arts, of Master of Business Administration

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

    • 3+ years of experience in Healthcare IT
    • 7+ years of experience with Quality Assurance Testing including creating test cases, test plans, and executing the testing
    • 7+ years of experience with enterprise database systems such as SQL Server 
    • 7+ years of experience working with large transactional databases and data warehouses

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience with an Electronic Health Record
    • Experience with JIRA, wiki, trello, Microsoft office suite
    • Experience in healthcare (ambulatory and/or inpatient)
    • Experience working on a team utilizing Agile and/or LEAN methodologies
    • 5+ years data validation and testing experience
    • Working knowledge of continuous integration process
