Overview

The Peer Services Manager leads the strategic direction, development, and expansion of peer support services across Central Health’s clinical and community-based care settings. This role ensures the effective integration of peer support into interdisciplinary workflows by shaping service models, guiding documentation standards, and setting expectations for ethical and professional use of lived experience.

 

The Peer Services Manager oversees program performance by monitoring metrics, evaluating outcomes, and driving continuous quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, this role supports peer workforce development through training, competency development, and career pathway planning. All peer services are delivered in alignment with nationally recognized standards established by SAMHSA and in accordance with statewide standards and certification requirements overseen by the Texas Certification Board.

 

In addition to management of peer support team members, the Peer Services Manager provides care to individuals engaged in serices with Central Health who have complex and often co-occurring mental health, substance use, and physical health needs. This position requires flexibility and travel between Central Health clinics and community based facilities, including skilled nursing facilities and other satellite locations. The person in this position must demonstrates a strong commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed care that promotes healing, empowerment, and hope for patients and their support systems.

 

This position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions


-Direct Peer Support Service Delivery: Lead the strategic integration of non clinical, recovery oriented peer support services across care settings. Use lived experience to model peer support principles, promote engagement and self advocacy, and ensure patients are connected to appropriate behavioral health and community resources. Provide direct services to support to individuals engaged in Central Health services experiencing complex behavioral health needs.
-Ethical Practice & Role Fidelity: Ensure peer support services uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, and the appropriate and intentional use of lived experience. Monitor and address role drift, boundary issues, and safety concerns through established protocols, and promote a culture of ethical, trauma informed practice across the peer workforce.
-Supervision & Workforce Development: Provide reflective supervision, coaching, and performance leadership to Peer Support Specialists. Oversee onboarding, training, competency development, and career pathway planning. Foster team wellness, skill development, and long term workforce sustainability aligned with best practices in peer support.
-Program Oversight & Fidelity: Oversee, evaluate, and strengthen the peer support program to ensure fidelity to recovery oriented, non clinical peer models. Monitor service delivery trends, documentation quality, and workflow effectiveness. Lead program performance measurement, outcomes evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals and peer support standards.
-Interdisciplinary Integration & Collaboration: Leads close collaboration and integration of peer services into clinical treatment teams and operational leaders to support multidisciplinary, team based care. Provide guidance on role clarity, appropriate integration of peer support, and effective communication between peer staff and clinical partners. Ensure the peer perspective is embedded meaningfully within care planning and service delivery.
-Operations, Documentation & Compliance: Leads the strategy for peer support services, including oversight of referral pathways, service assignments, and workflow optimization across care settings. Ensure high‑quality documentation practices within the electronic medical record and monitor adherence to organizational, regulatory, and certification requirements. Establish and refine processes that promote efficiency, compliance, and alignment with Central Health’s integrated care model.
-Program Development & Stakeholder Engagement: Leads the strategic development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of peer support services across Central Health’s care settings. Serve as a subject matter expert on peer support models, ethics, and workforce best practices. Build and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance integrated care initiatives, expand peer support capacity, and promote long‑term workforce sustainability.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent (higher degree accepted)

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

5 years experience managing people, program development and oversight.

2 years experience in peer support services

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

1 year experience supervising Peer Support professionals

1 year experience in Peer Support group facilitation

Proficient in Spanish

1 year Perr Support Program devlopment

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) OR Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS)

Peer Support Supervisor (PSS) - within 6 months of hire
