The Manager, Biomedical Equipment Technology will function as the Secondary administrative contact for executive
leadership on biomedical technology issues, and report to the VP - Chief Technology Officer.
They will direct activities and lead the Clinical Engineering/Biomedical Department in the selection, procurement,
and delivery of biomedical equipment and services. Ensure all program elements are designed and implemented to
comply with Joint Commission and other regulatory and inspection agency requirements, guidelines, and
standards. Develop and implement strategies in line with the Central Health Strategic Plan. Develop annual goals
and objectives related to supporting the growth and development of clinical engineering in response to present and
future needs. Develop and manage annual operating budget of the Clinical Engineering/Biomedical Department.
Provide leadership and collaboration with the Environment of Care Committee, Operational Departments. Develop
and implement processes and improvements for Biomedical Engineering to meet Cybersecurity requirements.
Operates as a liaison between IT, Clinical Engineering/Biomedical , and Clinical Leadership to improve initiatives for
cybersecurity posture and medical device integration of all medical equipment types. In-depth knowledge of Joint
Commission and other applicable standards and regulations.
Manage the Clinical Engineering/Biomedical services for the Central Health Healthcare System consisting of
hospitals, laboratories, surgical centers, ambulatory clinics, and related facilities.
Manage the sourcing of spare parts and services for the maintenance and repair activities associated with medical
equipment management.
Manage and lead the regulatory compliance of medical equipment with the Joint Commission Standards as well as
Federal, State and Local agencies
Manage the enterprise-wide Medical Equipment Management Plan across multiple campuses and associated offsite
Clinics.
Manage activities related to providing services (e.g., scheduled, and unscheduled work, project management,
customer satisfaction).
Coordinate activities of service providers and vendors concerned with installation or service of medical equipment.
Review financial statements, activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal
achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement
Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements as applicable (e.g., TJC, ANSI, OSHA, CMS,
FDA, FCC, HIPAA, DOH).
Report departmental operations performance to other departments or committees in accordance with the Medical
Equipment Management Plan (e.g., environment of care, patient safety, risk management, benchmarking).
Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to solicit cooperation and resolve
problems.
Collaborate with other departments on utility maintenance and interruption (e.g., network, telecom, electrical,
plumbing, mechanical systems, change management, downtime procedures).
Support a complete, accurate and reliable medical equipment inventory by ensuring Clinical Engineering staff
follow all applicable data integrity policies/procedures/standards. Ensure competency of Clinical Engineering
department staff and outside service vendors.
Evaluate key risks associated with the use of medical equipment ( e.g., patient safety, operations, finance,
emergency preparedness).
Assure integrity of data collection, storage, and security associated with healthcare technology (e.g., HIPAA, EMR
integration, Inventory system).
Manage incident investigations. Produce reports that outline findings, explain risk positions, or recommend
changes.
Perform personnel management duties (e.g., staffing, conflict management, disciplinary procedures, and
performance development plan).
Ensure department and/or team practices are following state and federal labor laws. Conduct performance
evaluations of Clinical Engineering department staff.
Assist and participate in financial planning, budgeting, and procurement activities for the Clinical Engineering
department (e.g., capital planning, technology planning, reporting, billing, payroll, and budgeting).
Collaborate with clinical departments on medical equipment related training (e.g., MRI and radiation safety,
equipment use, use-error trending).
Collaborate with non-clinical departments on healthcare technology training (e.g., infection prevention,
environmental services, and supply chain).
Authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Review sourcing options for parts, service, training, and test equipment/tools. Oversee ongoing technical training
and personal development classes for staff members.
